PLAY-BASED LEARNING!
Meet LittleSEED,
a curriculum designed specifically for children 24-48 months.
LittleSEED provides a natural, approach to oral language development that is playful and designed with our youngest learners in mind. Children will sing, play, and interact, as they develop their oral language- learning new vocabulary, language expressions, and developing early phonological awareness.
Research from The National Early Literacy Panel Report (2010) tells us that young children with better oral language skills have an easier time learning how to read.
EARLY STEPS
Strong Literacy Foundation
When schools make an early investment in their youngest students' oral language development, the long-term gains in reading and writing are endless!
- Young children with better oral language skills have an easier time learning how to read. [National Early Literacy Panel Report (2010)]
- Although vocabulary size is important, research shows that comprehensive oral language skills are a better predictor of how well a child will read in the future, even better than vocabulary alone. [NICHD Early Child Care Research Network, 2005]
- Oral language is not only important for speaking with others but also foundational to our proficiency in literacy- both reading and writing. [International Literacy Association, 2022]
Developing Oral Langauge
LittleSEED’s approach to teaching helps children build comprehension and draws children into learning through songs, play, and interaction.
