Whether you're working with general education preschoolers, transitional kindergarteners, young multilingual learners, or older newcomers, GrapeSEED equips you with the tools to confidently provide the best oral language instruction. No more searching for resources or hoping they meet your students' needs—GrapeSEED delivers language development and literacy results you can count on.
Our goal is for students in preschool through second grade to build English oral language and critical listening skills. Designed to meet the specific needs of the multilingual learner, GrapeSEED helps students gain confidence and English fluency by
using the continual language acquisition processes of exposure, comprehension, use, and reinforcement.
National research in the U.S. shows that children typically take 6-8 years to reach grade level proficiency, but 74% of GrapeSEED students reached proficiency in speaking and reading in just 2-3 years! GrapeSEED students everywhere share this certainty: they are on a path to a lifetime of success in language and in life.
Within three months, I saw language acquisition results equivalent to those it had previously taken one year to achieve.

A recent study in Hazelwood schools in Missouri showed that the newcomer students who received at least 3 lessons of GrapeSEED per week from August '23 to January of ‘24 outperformed the control group students in every area including: listening, speaking, reading, writing and their overall composite score on the Pearson TELL assessment. GrapeSEED students also outperformed the anticipated growth in all areas of the Pearson TELL assessment. Anticipated growth was 7 points.
Notably, the GrapeSEED students scored 2 times higher in the listening category AND 4 times higher than the control group in speaking.
The GrapeSEED group also scored almost 2 times the overall composite score of the control group students.
To achieve success in reading and writing a strong foundation in speaking and listening is essential for students new to the United States, regardless of age. Language development provides the foundation for literacy.
Research shows that listening informs reading, while speaking informs writing. If young children have difficulty with one, challenge with another can follow. Many schools today have implemented great reading and writing programs but have found that sometimes there is a piece of the literacy puzzle missing for children. That missing piece is LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT. Through repeated exposure to songs, stories, chants, big books, poems, and action activities young students will acquire oral language. GrapeSEED teachers use the Gradual Release of Responsibility model to help their students acquire oral language naturally and joyfully.
The impact of effective oral language development on literacy is transformational. National Research in the US shows that at-risk preschool students in classes using GrapeSEED showed more significant and faster growth than expected for their ages in every subtest area. As a result, they progressed out of at-risk status faster than predicted.
GrapeSEED isn’t just for at-risk preschool and transitional kindergarten students. Studies have shown that all children improved in reading after having GrapeSEED:
This is my second year teaching GrapeSEED and I've found it to be so beneficial this year and last year. I've noticed... that they [the children] are using what they've been taught in GrapeSEED--using it throughout the day. For instance, using complete sentences when they speak. So, GrapeSEED has been very beneficial in my Young 5s classroom.

The GrapeSEED program is designed to support accelerated language development, foster interactive teacher-student relationships, and increase student interest and engagement. These features are particularly beneficial for special education students and those requiring additional support in oral language development, helping them achieve greater success and joy in their learning journey.

Multilingual learners (MLLs) face the dual challenge of learning academic content while simultaneously acquiring English. Research shows that after-school programs can be uniquely beneficial for MLLs, particularly when they offer students extra time to engage with rigorous content and language learning (Maxwell-Jolly, 2011).
Schools using GrapeSEED in their after-school programs are able to complement and bolster the regular school day curriculum- thereby accelerating language acquisition and student confidence.
GrapeSEED can be used flexibly in after school programs as a “stand-alone” curriculum taught during intensive after school programs or in a “curriculum continuation” model extending the lessons taught during the school day. Students can also engage with the student app to get repeated exposure and practice with the language while teachers provide differentiated instruction for students.
Research shows that summer school programs can have a positive effect on academic performance. Specifically, studies have found that summer school programs can help narrow the achievement gap for multilingual learners.
Teachers who use GrapeSEED with students during the summer can use GrapeSEED as a “stand-alone” curriculum during the summer session or in a “curriculum continuation” model adding to the units that were taught during the regular school year. Students will gain confidence as they acquire language and will feel eager and ready to begin a new school year.
Using Grapeseed with our EL summer school students was a delight! They enjoyed the group lessons and were able to reinforce their learning individually through time on the Grapeseed app later in the day. As a teacher, I love using Nexus. Once I have learned the songs, and become familiar with the unit, my prep time is minimal; but the payoff is GREAT for these precious students!
